Since there are a lot of people asking us what is the difference between the standard (VSP) version of Mani's Admin Plugin and the MetaMod: Source version I created this small document to tell you what the difference is and how to install it. |

A number of users have pointed out that the CreateVDF.exe file does not include the latest TeamFortress game type. I have uploaded a new version of the CreateVDF utility that includes the game type 'tf' which can be downloaded in the links at the top right of this web page. You may also notice that the executable size is now only 19KB which is because the old version was a Debug build that adds substantially more information into the executable. Once the next version of the plugin is released I will package it with the new version. If you are still running V1.0 of CreateVDF.exe you can still use it for creating a Team Fortess VDF file by simply typing in tf in the drop down box instead of selecting a game type.

V1.2s Orange is currently only for Team Fortress 2 using the new Valve engine V1.2s is for the remaining games eg CSS, DODS using the legacy Valve engine The old V1.1 series is now officially dead due to menu incompatibilities so I've removed the download link. For those with V1.2r, the only differences are the binaries (mani_admin_plugin.dll/.so, mani_admin_plugin_mm.dll/.so) and the gametypes.txt files
Technical differences between versions: - As this has only been an attempt to bring things up to date, there is only one fix that stops people bypassing the weapons restriction code within SMM. I am also aware that in TF2 that the menus only display for 4 seconds before disappearing. This is not a bug in the plugin but a bug in the TF2 code. I can potentially fix this but I would prefer Valve to do something about it as my fix (re-displaying menus every 4 seconds) would most likely clash with other plugins.

Okay, so a frustrating weekend is almost over but I have a linux Orange version that for the most part is running Team Fortress succesfully. The next stage is to make sure it's all working okay on both linux and windows before releasing to the world. Again, the lack of a proper SDK has made this very time consuming but I think we are nearly there.

Contrary to what I posted yesterday about working on the linux version I ported the plugin to the latest SourceMM 1.4.x series on windows then moved on with getting an Orange version ready. This isn't as straightforward as I expected and isn't helped by not having an 'official' SDK to work with. What I think we will end up with is effectively 8 different versions of the plugin to distribute.... For non-orange games: - - VSP version using the latest SourceHook library (linux/windows)
- SourceMM version using SourceMM 1.4.x (linux/windows)
For orange games (currently only TF2): - - VSP version using the latest SourceHook library (linux/windows)
- SourceMM version using SourceMM 1.6.x (linux/windows)
Hopefully once the SDK is released and older games are ported to the Orange engine it will not be necessary to maintain the non-orange versions. How long this will take I am not sure. From the Mani Admin Plugin coding point of view it will still share 99% of the source code across all versions. Mani |

After some coding last night I have got it working with SMM 1.6 and an updated VSP version with the latest SourceHook code. Tonight I will be sorting out the linux version. After this I will start Orange Box compatibility with TF2. There is still much to do but I am encouraged by the speed of progress Mani |

As mentioned below the rumours are indeed true. I would like to extend my thanks to everyone for keeping this site alive and supported in my absence. It means very much to me, I thank you all. First order of the day is to get the plugin working with S:MM 1.6 and fix anything that has been broken in my absence. Another priority is to get something working with the Orange Box updates that will appear soon as games are ported across to it. Mani |

That's right everyone, your favorite plugin creator is returning after a much needed hiatus. I don't have all the details at the moment, however I can assure you that when back, mani will once again be on top of his game! We're all anxious to get our servers up and running with the latest versions of the source engine, but until we all know more please keep checking back to receive the latest news! |

Well it seems that there are a few problems related to V1.2 Beta Q and HL2DM so Beta Q will not be the final beta in the series. There is now a new V1.2 Beta R release to fix the HL2DM issues and a couple of other small things related to Source TV that affects all game mods Information on the details and downloads can be found here Mani |
